November Cascade 2018
I hope you are all safe and the recent rain storms have not done too much damage. It is frightening to think that in just over a month it will be Christmas! Where has this year gone?
The paperwork and the forms to complete for nominations to the committee for the AGM will be sent out shortly.
We do need 2 or 3 new members so please consider it, you do get expenses and a cup of coffee at committee meetings! In the meantime we need someone to set up the sound system as Bruce, who has done a very good job, wishes to relinquish the reins from the end of December so if you think you can do it (Bruce I am sure will show you what he does) do please contact me. I know we have had problems with it all, on and off, over a good number of years, however part of the problem is the acoustics at the CMO. One of our members is coming to see if he can help.
I have been asked to give you a reminder to reply to the email regarding Data Protection unless you are a new member as there are still some of you who have not replied and we need your authority by law in order to continue sending you anything.
It would be nice to see a lot of you at the Carols in the Square in Torrevieja on Friday 14th December at 5.30 pm, we will be on the steps in front of the church as usual so do try and join us. The committee thought it would be good if we could all wear our Christmas Jumpers so if you have one why not wear it and get into the spirit of Christmas.
Below I have copied an email I received from one of our members regarding voting in Spain.
I have been informed from a meeting today that it is confirmed that UK residents CAN vote in 2019 elections. This requires that you be registered on the ‘Padron’ and confirm residence status before the end of 2018. The application to be on electoral roll can be made by post or online or by return to the local town hall.
Now over to Peter Shaw our groups’ coordinator
Very little has changed over this last month.
The recycling and ring pull craft group has changed days Monday 10.30am at Dominos bar, Rocajuna
A well done sticker to Alex and his art group for the prizes in the landscape and seascape section of the recent painting competition held. I am sure most of you have seen this in the free papers. Well done David.
The Wednesday lunch group and Jean Law has room left on the Christmas lunch meeting on December 5th and would like to invite all members friends and family along to join in the festive fun.
Contact Jean or see her at the November CMO meeting.
As always keep thinking of new group activities and let me know if you know of anyone willing to start a group. Please check the website for updates.
And as always...keep enjoying
And Loraine Taylor our Social Secretary
Statement of the Day... I am still finding my feet ...
Although I have had very little response to trips I have offered I am NOT downhearted. I have cancelled all the 2018 trips put forward except for..
THE MORROCAN TEA ROOMS. Wednesday 12th December 2018.
However, this has changed beyond belief :-
1. Price €30 reduced to €15. This is based on 25 people, I have 15.
If I fill a coach, 55 people, the price would reduce to €11.
2. Coach with multiple pick-ups. (See Rosa Tours website for pick up points). Not just the C.M.O.
3. Entry to Tea Rooms and first pot of tea.
Further drinks and food can be purchased on site.
The coach gets within 100 yards of the entrance, The terrain is a bit uneven but when I went we all managed it. Warm clothing or a light blanket would be a suggestion and a torch would be useful. I will be bringing a couple of torches to guide the way. The lighting is poor.
BUT IT’S REALLY WORTH IT ! It’s a lovely place to relax and be with friends. Definitely a place with a difference.
See you at the C.M.O. Monday 26th November 2018. Just in time to book the Tea Rooms on December 12th? If you have not already done so by e-mail?
To my 15 members already booked, I hope the above will not stop you coming along.
2019 trips update.
Lunch at Dona Isabel followed by The Escape Rooms. CANCELLED.
Visit the Castle in Alicante followed by Valentines at Alicante Casino. Still live.
Afternoon Tea at The Orange Tree Cabo Roig. Still live.
Lorca Evening Parade. Still Live.
May/June 2019. T.B.A
Loraine ( W.O.R ) and you all know what that means.
