Due to holidays etc moneys to be paid please next Monday at the CMO, Coffee Morning or to one of the Committee by Friday 18 January. ~~~~Stop Press~~~~
It's hard to believe that Christmas is only 2 weeks away somehow it seems wrong celebrating it in 20 degree temperatures and lovely sunshine instead of the cold and wet or frost and snow but someone has to do it so it might as well be us!
A reminder that the Carols in the Square takes place this Friday at 5pm!
I would like to ask you all to notify me or any committee member if you hear of the death of a member so we can offer help and company as well as condolences to the family however if no-one tells us that is impossible and can lead to upsetting situations so it would be better for us to be told many times rather than not at all.
During our general meetings at the CMO all tables, stalls etc. will be closed whilst the speaker is giving their presentation, or notices are being given out. It is very difficult to hear if there is a conversation going on nearby. It is also very rude. Of course not all the speaker interest all members but if you don´t want to listen please just remain silent or even leave the meeting before they take the stage. At the AGM in February there will be no book stall or raffle and of course we do not have a speaker that month.
I understand that some kind people donated some wine to Alimentos Solidarios as it is Christmas however this is not suitable for them and therefore will only be used in cooking and although that is nice in many ways the sentiment is wasted so please only bring non-perishable food items for them, however at this time of year they can accept present for the children. Please just wrap them and stick a label on saying if it is suitable for a boy or girl and an approximate age.
At our next meeting on Monday 17th December the main fund raisers and hopefully the director of the San Jose Obero Children´s Home (my charity for this year) will attend. Unfortunately the children are unable to come as under 18´s are not allowed in the CMO. A little harsh but it is a pensioners building I suppose. They are coming for the presentation of the money raised by the joint walking groups on the charity walk they did in a howling gale! Also we will give them the items donated over the year.
I have been asked to tell you that the Singing for Fun Group will resume on Monday 14th January 2019 at 2.00 pm at Florantilles Camping.
Before I hand over to Peter and Loraine I must say I am very disappointed with the lack of support being shown for the social trips. Loraine has worked hard to organise things for you but has been unable to get the numbers required. If there is something in particular you would like to do tell us and we will look into the possibilities.
Now over to Peter Shaw our groups’ coordinator
Have I told you yet about a Spanish/English Conversation Group that I come across, every Tuesday morning at 11.30am. in Mediterranean Restaurant, El Mojón. San Pedro del Pinatar. Usual rules of engagement apply. No charge, please spend at the bar. Meeting in a relaxed atmosphere (English and Spanish speakers) to talk in both languages. Helping each other to learn. The group is open to members of the Torrevieja U3A who would be interested in improving their Spanish and also helping the Spanish with their English. Let me know what you think. If this opportunity grows then the chance of a group more local to us is a consideration.
